WHY SHOULD I HAVE A WELLNESS SESSION?

Experts estimate that 80 to 90 percent of disease is stress-related. 
A Wellness session can be used to decrease stress, ease tension and promote relaxation.  When our energies are being disrupted, flow irregularly, or become sluggish and blocked, we can begin to experience both physical and emotional symptoms. 
This can manifest as pain, fear, excessive worry, the inability to heal or recover from injury, and many other issues.  
The physical changes a Wellness Session brings to your body can have a positive effect in many areas of your life. Visceral Manipulation/Organ Specific Fascia Mobilization (VM), Myofascial Release (MFR) and CranioSacral Therapy (CST) help relieve tight muscles and fascial restrictions, reduce aches and pains, improve circulation, gain greater flexibility, increase mobility and enhance athletic performance.  
Energy Wellness helps to reduce pain, improve immune system response, facilitate emotional release and relieve worry by decreasing energy blockages and balancing the energy system.  As you release stress and tension, your body regains its vitality; you stimulate your own self-healing capacity and increase your over-all sense of well-being.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A VISCERAL MANIPULATION/ORGAN SPECIFIC FASCIA MOBILIZATION (VM) OR MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (MFR) SESSION ?

You will complete a brief health history form and I will answer any questions you have.  During the session, it is best to wear loose fitting shorts and a sports bra for women.  I will then listen to your body and proceed with specific gentle manual techniques to encourage normal mobility, tone and motion of the fascia and connective tissues. 
This may involve lying on the table face up, lying on your stomach, lying on your side or even sitting up.  I may ask you to stand up again to reevaluate and listen to your body.  Since we work together as a team during your session, this work includes interactive dialogue.

Question 3

WHAT HAPPENS DURING AN ENERGY WELLNESS SESSION?

The first session involves a consultation in addition to the wellness session.  You complete a questionnaire about your physical, mental, and emotional situation and I will answer questions about Energy Wellness, Healing Touch and Reiki. 
Then, you lay fully clothed on a massage table while I gently place my hands slightly above or on your body. The session generally lasts 30 to 40 minutes, and people frequently report feeling deeply relaxed and peaceful during and after the session.  Because there may be a cumulative effect of using Energy Wellness over time, regular sessions are recommended.

WHAT WILL I FEEL OR EXPERIENCE DURING A WELLNESS SESSION?

Everyone has a different experience.  Overall, you may feel deeply peaceful and relaxed.  There are various sensations you may experience as you and your body respond to the work.  These include yawning, stomach gurgles, getting the chills and more.  It all depends on you and your body.

WHAT IS VISCERAL MANIPULATION (ORGAN SPECIFIC FASCIA MOBILIZATION)?

Visceral Manipulation is a gentle manual therapy that aids your body’s ability to release restrictions and unhealthy compensations that cause pain and dysfunction. Visceral Manipulation (VM), does not focus solely on the site of pain or dysfunction, but evaluates the entire body to find the source of the problem.
“Viscera” relates to the internal organs of the body, such as the liver, kidneys and intestines. This works is also known as Organ Specific Fascia Mobilization. The organs in our body need to move within a normal range of motion, just like our joints, they so we can function.  VM assesses the relationship between the body’s organs and others structures, like muscles, fascia, ligaments and joints. As a VM therapist, I am trained to feel for altered or decreased motion within the viscera, as well as restrictive patterns throughout the body and then apply VM techniques.
These gentle manual techniques are used as a stimulus to the point where your body is able to correct itself, without forcing the correction on the body, restoring normal organ movement. VM therapy re-establishes the body’s ability to adapt and restore itself to health by mobilizing the fascia on and surrounding the organs.  This has a cascading effect of assisting the integration of function and movement of the body as a whole.

HOW DO ORGANS CONTRIBUTE TO PAIN AND DYSFUNCTION?

Your body is made up of many interrelated components such as bones, muscles, nerves, a thin connective tissue called fascia, as well as the internal organs (viscera). 
Your organs are in perpetual motion. This movement of organs is transmitted through fascia to other structures of the body. When you are healthy, all the structures move with an interconnected fluidity.  Optimum health relies on a harmonious relationship between the motions of the organs and other structures of the body. By mobilizing the organ specific fascia, structure and function are restored to the musculoskeletal system.
